Researching Generative AI with GPT4All

Since I’ve been researching Generative AI using Azure OpenAI, I thought I would expand my research into the open source world of Generative AI offerings. First up to test is GPT4All. If you would like to learn more about how it was trained, here is the technical report. I downloaded and installed the locally running chatbot. As you can see, it started to repeat itself. I’m certain this can be changed in the settings by increasing the number of tokens it uses to check for repetition.

The other thing that surprised me was it maintained its own context. I didn’t have keep repeating the context of the question during follow-up questions. However, when I restarted the application, it wasn’t aware of the context so I provided its last response prior to the application restart. As you can see, it took quite a few follow-ups to exhaust its responses.

This was an interesting experiment. The next one will be supplying text from documents and asking it questions about the contents.

I’m sure this chatbot can be useful in projects once I figure out how to interface with the model without using the application.
